Ed Jordan, passed away on May 21, 2020 in Ashburn, VA. He was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 14, 1931, son of Edward and Jessie Palsak Jordan. He graduated from Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University (CT) class of 1953 and received his MS in nuclear physics in 1955 from New York University. In 1964, he received his PhD in nuclear engineering from the University of Maryland. While working in the Nuclear Reactor Division of Foster Wheeler Corp in New York, he met Margaret (Peggy) Moran and they wed in 1957 and raised five children. In 1959, Ed became an Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the Catholic University of America and later was head of the department and full professor. From 1968-1984, Ed was Director of Institution Research at Catholic University. He retired in 1992 as Professor Emeritus. While at Catholic University he also did sponsored research and consulted at the Naval Ordinance Laboratory developing nuclear detection projects for which he holds several patents.
Ed was predeceased by his parents and brother Donald and his daughter-in-law Denise. He is survived by his wife Peggy, and their 5 children: Christopher (Cynthia), Kathleen (Ross) Crown, Daniel, David (Susan) and Margaret (Christopher) White and 15 grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or Catholic Relief Services.
