Obituary

Eileen Veronica O'Brien Reser entered the presence of the Lord on October 7, 2022. Born on the 14 th of November 1942, in Queens, NY. Eileen was one of six children born to Harry O'Brien and Dorothea McKillop. She spent a love-filled childhood in New York and Virginia.

As a young woman, Eileen wed naval officer Gerald Reser in 1965 and spent most of the next two decades stationed at naval bases around the world, including Japan, Taiwan, and Hawaii. Eileen was a proud and devoted mother to four children—Michael, Stephen, David, and Alison. Throughout the 1970s and 80s, Eileen dedicated her time as a substitute teacher and a teacher's aide for students with special needs. In 1985, when her marriage ended in divorce, Eileen returned to northern Virginia and began a distinguished career as a human resources manager with the Central Intelligence Agency. She attended Trinity College in Washington D.C. and proudly graduated in 1992 with her bachelor's degree. Eileen enjoyed a long and fulfilling career, proudly serving her country with the CIA, and retired in 2007.

In 1989, the first of three grandchildren, Joseph Harrison Reser, was born to Eileen's oldest son Michael, to be followed by two granddaughters, Katie and Amanda, in 1999. Eileen was extraordinarily devoted to her all her family, including her sisters, brother, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and a beloved daughter of God, as evidenced by her commitment to her church, her service, her generosity, and her endless empathy for the people in her life. A lover of art and travel, as well as a passionate and savage bridge and scrabble player, Eileen was loved by many around the world.

Eileen is predeceased by her siblings Cecelia O'Brien and Edward O'Brien who died in infancy, and by her dear sister Dorothea (Doris) Casale. Eileen is survived by her sister Mary Margaret (Peggy) O'Connor and her brother James (Jim) O'Brien. She is also survived by her children Michael & Kathy Reser, Stephen Reser, Drs. David & Maree Reser, and Alison Reser. She leaves behind grandchildren Joseph & Lauren, Katie, and Amanda, and great grandchildren Lyla and Everlee.
