She left school in 1943 before graduation to work for the Department of the Army at the Pentagon while the building was still being constructed. She later worked for the first Secretary of Defense. She was married in 1950 and moved to Arlington, Virginia. She became an active member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church and a volunteer at McKinley Elementary School. After 17 years, her family moved to Falls Church, Virginia where she lived for 30 years. The final years of her life were spent with her husband at Leisure World in Ashburn, Virginia. She was deeply loved by her family and the many friends she made during her lifetime. Internment at Arlington National Cemetery will occur later this year.
