IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elena Maria
Capelli
August 17, 1949 – January 16, 2021
Elena Maria Capelli 8/17/49-1/16/21
Daughter of Stephen William Capelli and Clara Fiore Capelli, Elena is survived by her sister Tonia, and brothers Robert and Michael. Elena is also survived by members, young and old, of her extended family nearby and in distant states and in Italy, also by her friend and life partner and their most recent cat companions.
Elena lived a life rich with family, friends, music, art, humor, work, sports, cooking, books, animals and nature. She worked at the same company more than 50 years, starting out as a typist praying for overtime, finishing up as an IT problem-solver and Assistant Vice President.
Elena grew up in Northern Virginia. She loved the familiar neighborhoods, parks and scenery as well as the vibrancy of nearby DC. She also loved the visits she made over the years to California, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, New England.
Elena spent the last three decades in rural Loudoun County. Retirement allowed for daylight hours walking in the woods encountering wildlife, discovering plants, flowers, relics from the 1800's.
Elena's childhood family included Butch, a sweet dog. As an adult she was "mom" to many cats who would have been homeless. Animals and children always bonded quickly with her, and she reciprocated with love.
Elena had her share of surgeries over the decades. She was always brave and cheerful and a good healer. Over the last decade Elena met devastating effects of dementia with the same courage. With smiles and perseverance. She tried to live every moment to the best of her ability. Unfortunately there is no healing here for this disease, of which there are many types, many causes. Elena always kept a deep faith, love of God, Jesus and the Saints. She always prayed for others. Now her spirit is transported, healed forever. Always in our hearts and memory.
