1931-2021
In the early morning of May 13, 2021, Elisabeth Plumeau, was called home to our Lord, after a heroic battle with Alzheimer's. She was 90, died peacefully in her sleep, at Stafford Hospital.
Our Mom was born on January 11, 1931 in Leibitz, Slovakia, to the late Michael & Julie Klein, she was the baby, a brother and two sisters older. During World War II, Slovakia was devastated by Nazi invasion, thousands fled, Mom, her family, among them. She'd mention this ever so often as she was fourteen at the time, eventually, Augsburg became the family's center.
Our Dad was a good looking guy, an American GI who fell in love with our Mom, a European stunner he called Elsie. This is their wedding picture, Mom sewed the lace on herself. Married in Grossauheim Germany, a suburb of Hanau, Dad was with the 814th Eng.Co.FB in Hanau, he and Mom now have two daughters, Karen, Linda, a son Alfred, Jr., all born during that tour. In 1956, a tour at Fort Campbell, KY, in 1957 a son, Paul, and in 1959, went back to Germany for the final tour. Being older, we could travel better, Heidelberg, Mannheim, but Stuttgart gets the nod for time and distance. It's the closest to Augsburg, Dad got Mom home to see her parents and siblings. Stateside since 1962, two daughters, Diane, Jennifer, completed their family, and in 1971, Mom became a naturalized American citizen.
Preceding Mom were her husband and our father, Alfred T. Plumeau, Sr., in 1980, their daughter, our sister, Diane in 1989. Both are buried in Arlington. Mom will be buried in Arlington with honors at a later date.
Surviving Mom are her five children, eight great grandchildren, eight grandsons, Scott Minderlein, Michael Porter, Christopher Gustin, Brandon Plumeau, Matthew Gustin, Shane Plumeau, Ryan Gustin & Patrick Plumeau; three granddaughters Samantha Gustin Legrand, Danielle Plumeau Chestnutt & Shannon Plumeau Miller. It is these eleven grandchildren who grew up with their beloved Grosie, who loved them all back just as much.
Memorial service was held at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg on May 27, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
