Elizabeth (Betty) Smith Cooper passed away peacefully at home June 5, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle against cancer. Betty was born February 21, 1937, in Loudoun County, VA, and was the daughter of Benjamin and Estelle Smith. She grew up in Round Hill, VA, and graduated from Loudoun County High School. She drove a school bus for Loudoun County Public Schools for 40 plus years. She was an active member of the Round Hill Baptist Church.
Betty loved spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, traveling, and going to the beach. She always enjoyed the yearly vacations to the Outer Banks with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also loved watching her favorite sport teams, Redskins and Nationals, and was loyal fan for over 60 years. She was also very competitive on family game night.
She is survived by her husband, John Cooper, Sr.; son J. D. Cooper (MaryAnne), daughter Debbie Cooper; four grandchildren (Anthony Cooper (Kelly), Ashley Warfield (Chris), Courtney Cooper, and Nicholas Cooper); four great grandchildren (Wyatt Cooper, Olivia Cooper, Asher Warfield, and Christian Warfield); brother, William (Bill) Smith. She was predeceased by her son, Dale Cooper, and her sister, Peggy Bemusdaffer.
There will be a graveside service and burial on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the following:
