Emilie Helen Mullard Pugh died peacefully at her home on March 7, 2016 in Sterling, Virginia at the age of 77.
Emilie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Burgan; children, Timothy (Karen) Pugh of Ashburn, VA, Brian Pugh of Reston, VA, and Michele (Gene) Pugh Glasco of Glen Allen, VA; and sister, Ann Louise Mullard Pugh of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Joshua, and Jessie Pugh and Gabby and Reese Glasco; two nephews, Eric Pugh and Ian Pugh; and numerous cousins.
Emilie was born September 15, 1938 in Menominee, MI to Emil Mullard and Helen Kroll Mullard. She graduated from Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago, IL in 1955. She married Burgan Pugh on June 26, 1965 in Chicago, IL. Burgan's Navy career took them to Charleston, SC; Virginia Beach, VA; Groton, CT; and Newport News, VA. Upon Burgan's retirement from the Navy, they settled in Sterling, VA in 1977.
Emilie was active in Sterling community theatre for decades, first with BRAPA and finally as a co-founder of the Sterling Playmakers, where she served as Board Treasurer and produced such shows as Oklahoma, Hello Dolly, Bye Bye Birdie, and Once Upon a Mattress. She also served as a member of the Sterling Community Center Advisory Board and the Loudoun County Art Advisory Committee. Emilie also served as a Camp Fire Girl leader and Cub Scout den mother. She worked as an Executive Secretary for Freddie Mac before retiring in 2003.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Herndon, VA, followed by a graveside service at Sterling Cemetery.
