Ethelene Johnson, 97, was born November 4, 1917 in Sterling, Virginia to Clinton Jackson and Irene (Bigsby), and passed from this life on Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Leesburg, Virginia. She was a lifelong resident of Loudoun county. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed the company of good friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Ed and Grafton Jackson; five siblings, Cora Smackum, Maude Slaughter, James Jackson, Randolph Jackson and Ella Mae Jackson.
Ethelene is survived by her husband, Calvin Johnson, whom she had been married to for over 65 years! They lived together in Loudoun County where they shared a great life together raising and caring for their family. Ethelene had a passion for spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, working in her garden, fishing and sharing stories with family of how good life was when she and her siblings were growing up. She knew how to have fun and not let little things get her down. She was a joy to be around and everyone wanted to be at her house.
Ethelene is survived by her husband, Calvin; her children, Christine Garrett, and her children, Frederick (Janie), Tracey and Glen Garrett; Camillia Johnson and her children, Gwendolyn Staley, Alivia Johnson and Gaberil Johnson; Darlene Terrell (Jeff) and her children, Cherrell and Alisha Jackson; and Gerone Jackson. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A time of visitation is scheduled for Saturday, January 17, 2015 between 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, Virginia 20176 where a service will immediately follow starting at 11:00 am. Burial will be held in Tippett Hill Cemetery, Sterling, Virginia.
