IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eugene James
Ciminelli
August 7, 1936 – November 2, 2017
Eugene (Gene) James was born August 7, 1936 in Buffalo, New York.
On June 18, 1960, he married the love of his life, Diane. They have three daughters: Susan, Anita & Paula. Gene dedicated his life to his passion – teaching children, which he did for nearly 30 years at Buffalo Public School 33 (PS 33 Bilingual Center). He was a positive influence on so many children, and taught them that if they believed in themselves, a successful and bright future was possible. He instilled these beliefs, and his sense of humor, on his only grandchild, Caitlin – his pride and joy.
He was active on the Maryvale School Board of Education. He gave his time unselfishly. His legacy was not only his own children, but all the children whose lives he touched.
Gene was devoted to his family and a wonderful friend to many. Known for his sense of humor, family and friends always looked forward to being in his company. He was an avid sports fan, following the Buffalo Bills, Sabres and Buffalo State Football no matter where he lived.
Upon retirement, Gene and Diane became snowbirds. They moved to the Plantation, a Leesburg, Florida community, following many life-long friends. They liked to golf, and enjoyed a busy, active social life, as well as volunteering at the local animal shelter. They kept a cottage at Snyder Beach where they returned every summer to enjoy the cool breezes from the shores of Lake Erie.
He will rest in peace with his parents, Gino and Florence, his brothers Ron and David, and his Uncle Harry.
Anyone who crossed his path is blessed to have known him. He will be missed, but in his life we have gained so much.
