Eve O'Brien, 94 passed away peacefully, Wednesday, August 23rd at Sunrise Assisted Living in Leesburg,where she resided for the last 8 years.
Eve was born in New York City on October 28, 1921, the daughter of Greek immigrants. She grew up in Sheepshead Bay and attended Hunter College. Eve and her husband Bud, moved to McLean in 1952 where they raised their two children, Tom and Kathleen. Eve worked for the Army Map service and then for 20 years at the Naval Ship research and Development Center in Potomac Md. She retired in 1978 to Linden Hall Farm in Lovettsville, antebellum home they purchased in 1961 but could only spend summers there until their retirement. For the next 20 years, Eve and her husband worked tirelessly to restore the antebellum home to its original glory. For their restoration and preservation efforts they received a Merit award from the Preservation Society of Loudoun County.
Eve had always had a love for dance, and she picked up that passion again in her mid 70s when she joined the GOTTA DANCE troupe in Leesburg, Va. She was an avid reader, wonderful gardener, a great cook, competitive tennis partner and a talented quilter. She also loved to travel and did so extensively throughout the US and abroad. Eve will be remembered by family and friends for her beautiful smile, kind and generous spirit, and her boundless energy.
Eve was predeceased by her husband "Bud" O'Brien, in 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Howsare and son Tom O'Brien( Maria), all of Lovettsville, Va., as well as her 4 grandchildren: Shannon, Cary, Patrick and Tim, and eight great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their endless gratitude for the wonderful care Eve received at Sunrise Assisted Living in Leesburg.
A Mass of christian burial will be held on August 30, 2016 at 10:00am at St John the Apostle Catholic Church, 55 Oak Crest Manor Drive, Leesburg, VA 20176. Interment will immediately follow at St. John Catholic Church Cemetery.
