Reverend Everett McCormick passed away at the age of 82 on August 21, 2011 in Leesburg, Virginia after a long illness. Born January 29, 1929 in Burlington, Washington, he lived in Seattle, Washington, then moved to Illinois at age 6. He attended Evanston High School and then moved to Greenville, Illinois, where he graduated from Greenville High School in 1946 and then Greenville College in 1950. Shortly thereafter, he married Loverna Barber in Ferndale, Michigan on June 9, 1950. She has been his loving and devoted companion for more than 61 years.
He was an ordained elder with the Free Methodist Church, and served as pastor of congregations in Illinois, Washington, Michigan, Virginia and Maryland until his retirement in 2001 where he resided in Culpeper and then Leesburg, Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Loverna, and six children; Karen Goodrich of Grand Blanc, Mi.; Kristin Kimmich of Fairport, NY.; Mark McCormick of Seattle, Wa.; Karla McCormick of Leesburg, Va.; Heidi Jessurun of Jos, Nigeria, and Jennifer McGovern of Leesburg, Va. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 4:00pm at the Cornerstone Chapel (742 Miller Drive SE Leesburg, VA 20175).
