Obituary

Everett Dean Rowenhorst peacefully passed away on October 9, 2014.

Everett was always a happy, contented man who never wanted much out of life; just simple quiet pleasures, sharing his life with his beloved Florence and his children Eddie, (who died September 11, 2001 at the Pentagon attack), Robin, Matthew, Daniel, step-daughter Melina, his brother Elroy  and grandchildren.

Everett was a very sociable person, well liked and respected. He was someone you could trust and rely on.

As we celebrate his life on earth, we know he is celebrating homecoming in heaven. Oh, what a glorious feeling that must be. We can only imagine the feeling when he was greeted by those that have passed on before him. We could hear the Angels as they welcomed him home. A home that is free of pain and suffering, no more sadness, no more sorrow.

Viewing will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, Virginia 20176 where funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 starting at 11:00 am, interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.

I stand upon the ocean shore as a ship at my side opens his sail to the
Morning breeze and begins to glide across the blue water.
He is a beautiful sight.
I stand and watch him as he glides with grace and strength into the clouds on the horizon,
Just where the sky and the ocean meet and come to mingle with one another.
I hear someone cry out, "He is gone." And I must say to them, "yes, but only gone from sight."
For within the mind and the heart he can always be found.
For life is eternal, love is immortal, death is only a horizon.
And a horizon is nothing save the limits of your sight.
I am a ship who has slipped beyond the horizon, just out of sight but not out of mind or heart.
For my sails have become wings and now I can soar.
