Félix Pagés, aged 88, passed away on Friday March 3, 2017, in Ashburn, Virginia. Felix was predeceased by his parents, Ireno Pagés Hector and Antolina Valdes.
Félix was born in Nueva Paz, Cuba in 1928. He married Haydee Alvarez in 1952. In 1959, they were blessed with their first child, Isis Cristina.
Félix was a successful business owner and entrepreneur. In 1967, Félix, along with Haydee and Isis, fell victim to an oppressive Communist regime, and fled to the safety of the United States to begin a new life.
Here in the U.S., they worked tirelessly to rebuild their lives. With dogged determination, hard work, and sheer grit, they mastered the English language, worked hard to assimilate into American society, and eventually became full-fledged U.S. citizens in 1972.
In 1970, they were blessed with a second child, American-born Félix, Jr.
By the end of the 1970s, they achieved the American dream of homeownership and built a solid, humble home full of love, integrity, and dignity.
In 1995, after a long, fruitful career at Honeywell Federal System, full of countless accolades and awards, he began his retirement where he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and travelling the world. A prolific poet, Félix composed hundreds of poems about his native Cuba, and his love of family and country. Through his website, felixpages.com, he inspired countless readers around the world with his artful words.
Throughout the 2010's, he displayed immense courage and valor in his valiant fight with Parkinson's disease. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, poetry, dignity, love, respect, integrity, love for country, and love of God.
He is survived by his loving wife Haydee, and his adoring children Isis and Félix, Jr., grandchildren Ryan Glass, Kelsey Glass, and Jordan Glass, son-in-law Anthony Glass, and daughter-in-law April Vara-Pagés. In addition, he is predeceased by his brother Luis Pagés, and survived by his two sisters Victoria Martinez and Doris Nuñez.
