First Lady
Marion Ann Mitchell
December 9, 1966 – April 23, 2025
First Lady Marion Ann Mitchell, 58, of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from organ failure.
Marion was born on December 9, 1966, to Ronald and Evelyn Bridgemahon in Kingston, Jamaica, W.I. She graduated from St. Andrew High School for Girls in 1984 and went on to study at Delta College in Stockton, California, where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education.
After college, Marion began her career at Newday Preschool in Stockton, where she was lovingly known as "Teacher Marion."
In 1983, Marion met the love of her life, Chester Lloyd Mitchell, at the General Youth Camp held at Moneague Teachers College in St. Ann, Jamaica. They were joined together in holy matrimony on July 6, 1985.
Following their marriage, Marion moved to Stockton, California, where she and Chester continued their ministry. In 1996, they relocated to Northern Virginia, where they founded and co-founded Capital Community Church in Ashburn, Virginia.
Marion loved and served God passionately. She had a heart for people, a love for travel, and was a true connoisseur of great food. But most of all, she cherished her family and the memories they created together.
Marion was predeceased by her father, Ronald; her brothers, John and Mario; and her sisters, Norma and Pauline. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn; her beloved husband, Chester; her sisters, Petal and Carol; and her brother, Dave.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Capital Community Church, 20430 Ashburn Village Blvd., Ashburn, VA 20147.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to HOME International Orphanage in Guatemala, a cause close to Marion's heart, as her love for children was a beautiful part of her life and ministry.
