Francis H. Mock, Jr. ,68, passed away on August 11, 2011. Born in Leesburg, Virginia on May 29, 1943, he was the son of Francis H. Mock of Hagerstown, MD and Ruth Arnold Mock of Leesburg. Francis lived most of his life in Leesburg; spending only a few years in Fairfax County, Virginia. He was previously employed by the A & P Grocery Stores and 7 – Eleven where he held the position of manager. On September 17, 1990 Francis's life was forever changed when a very serious auto accident left him to live the rest of his life as a quadriplegic. The accident resulted in a month long stay at the Washington Hospital Center, following a seven month stay at National Rehabilitation Hospital and a year and a half at Woodbine Nursing Home in Alexandria, Virginia. The last 19 years of his life was spent at INOVA Loudoun Nursing and Rehab Center. Had Francis lived to September 17, 2011 he would have spent 21 years as a quadriplegic. While he was totally paralyzed, he grew an unbelievable strength of character and will to live.
Surviving are his daughter Suzie M. Brown of Purcellville, VA; sons Daniel Mock of Knoxville, TN and James and Brian Mock both of Elizabethton, TN; grandchildren Carter and Olivia Brown and Tristan Mock; sister Betty Jane Fansler and husband Henry of Lewisville, N. C.; nephews John Legard and wife Anna of Moneta, VA and Donovan Fansler and wife Mary of Clemmons, N.C.; nieces Sandra Moore and husband Andrew of Clemmons, N.C., Kimberly Flippin and husband Jay of Pfafftown, N.C. and Christine Marshall of Thomasville, N.C. Francis was blessed to have an extended family that included the loving and caring staff and volunteers at the INOVA Loudoun Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his sister Ruth Anne Leddon.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. A service will follow starting at 11:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Leesburg, VA.
