A Life of Love

A Farm Boy at Heart

Frank was born in 1936 to Herbert Myers and Nellie Catherine Powell. He was raised on a horse farm where he helped run the family riding stable business. He worked on the farm alongside his brother, Jim and sisters Betty, Linda, Tina and Lavenia. His life-long family values that defined his life were rooted at the farm. He loved to spend time with his mother and cherished many family reunions through the years.

The Family Man

Frank met his life-long love, partner and best friend, Sherry, in 1961. They were married in 5 months and cherished every minute of their nearly 53 years together. As their relationship grew, Frank supported his wife in every way. He was very proud of his two sons, Bill and Frank and dearly loved his grandchildren, Andrew, Harrison and Addison. He fully embraced his two daughter in-laws, Laurie and Char, just as his mother did before him.

Grounded by Faith

Faith was a consistent driving factor throughout Frank's life. In 1956 he went to Phillips University for religious studies and he later became a Deacon at his church, Christian Temple, Disciples of Christ. His relationship with God was a grounding force that provided him focus and clarity.

Desire to Learn

Education was of utmost importance to Frank. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1955. While in the Air Force, he taught courses in mainframe computers and later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Physics and Mathematics at the University of Southern Mississippi. He attended The University of Arizona & received a degree in the field of Optical Sciences. Later in life, he earned two Master's Degrees in Business and Behavioral Sciences at The Johns Hopkins University. He was very proud of his educational accomplishments.

His Many Careers

Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1958 and discovered that it was his true calling. After graduating from Officers Training School in 1968, Frank was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and later promoted to the rank of Captain. Frank received the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service as a Systems Analyst in the field of advanced radar signal processing. He was awarded various other commendation medals for outstanding skill, knowledge, and leadership for key technical programs in the Air Force. He was selected for promotion to the rank of Major but decided to retire in 1979 after 21 years of distinguished service. After his military career, he worked in the defense industry. He was later involved in real estate and was elected President of the CRS realtor association. He once again changed careers by joining forces with his wife to operate their own disc jockey business from 1993 through 2012.

A Loving Goodbye

Listing Frank's childhood, family, faith, education and career simply does not describe enough about the person he was. He was the "rock" upon which his wife depended. Frank will be missed and his "life of love" will endure through his family for many generations.
