Obituary

On August 7, 2016, Frank J. Talbot, MD passed away peacefully at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Leesburg, Va surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Washington DC on March 3, 1927. He graduated from Georgetown University Medical School in 1953.
Dr. Talbot's entire life was spent helping wounded and sick people. He served our country as a Navy medical corpsman during World War II taking care of wounded soldiers. He finished his military career in the National Guard with the final rank of Captain.

He completed residencies at Georgetown University Hospital, DC General Hospital and Boston City Hospital in internal medicine, cardiology and pulmonary disease. He was a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Talbot practiced internal medicine and cardiology for 48 years in Maryland and Virginia. Early in his career, with a group of cardiologists, he established one of the first coronary care units in the Washington DC area at Cafritz Memorial Hospital. He trained all of the nurses that were hired to work in this new specialized unit.

His interests in addition to raising five children were boxing, track, tennis, travel, history and his dogs. He was a member of the track team at Woodrow Wilson High School and the boxing team at Georgetown University. He took great pride in imparting his love of United States history and heritage to his children his entire life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Suzanne Crosby Talbot, his sister, Helen Hitselberger, and his five children; Laura Whitford, Valerie Talbot, Pamela Takacs, Frank Talbot, Lissa Livingston and his five grandchildren. Frank Talbot suffered from Alzheimer's and received excellent care from the staff, nurses and doctors in his final two years at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

A service in Arlington National Cemetery is planned for Spring, 2017.
