Frederick Holroyd Eastabrooks
Formerly of Ft. Thomas Kentucky died peacefully in Leesburg Virginia on October 17th at the age of 94 surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 70 years, Evelyn; his son John Eastabrooks, his daughter Evie Shucart and his sister Margie Kreate. Fred was loved dearly by his five Grandsons; Eric Hill, Rex Hill, Alex Hill, Eddie Eastabrooks and Andy Hill.
As a long time member of the Lions Club he was honored in 1996 with the Melvin Jones Fellow humanitarian award.
He built a successful optical business, Eastabrooks Opticians, in Cincinnati Ohio. He practiced his craft for 45 years before he retired and then he and Evelyn traveled annually to visit family and friends.
Fred was an avid learner throughout his life and taught himself many skills. At an age when many would rest on their laurels he studied to become an amateur radio operator and then used that skill to help in community emergencies as well as to instruct others in the field, well into his eighties.
He spoke with great pride of his son's many achievements and his daughter's talent in art. Mr. Eastabrooks was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church and found strength and comfort in its teachings and his Christian beliefs.
Mr. Eastabrooks, a veteran of WWII will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington. He leaves us with fond memories as well as quiet respect for his unfailing sense of duty and pride in a life well lived.
