Our beloved G.R. Mathai passed away on July 24, 2023. Born into humble beginnings and lovingly adopted by his aunt, he led a life marked by simplicity and hard work. G.R. Mathai was a joyful and dynamic man, sharing a deep bond with his late wife, Jeevan Jyothi, until her passing in 2019.

He had a passion for music, particularly playing the tabla, and also enjoyed cricket and discussing politics at length. His devout Christian faith was evident in his punctual church attendance and his role in building a church in Tungabhadra Dam, his hometown.

A highly educated individual in his family, G.R. Mathai valued hard work and education. He selflessly helped others find jobs and provided coaching to those in need. His compassionate nature and belief in the potential of every individual were truly inspiring.

G.R. Mathai's unwavering support extended to his family, and he tirelessly worked to ensure his children received a quality education. His belief in their abilities never wavered, and he treated his children's spouses as his own. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, he was a source of joy and love.

He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faith, unwavering support for his family, and boundless compassion. While we mourn his departure, we celebrate the profound impact his life had on all who knew him. His memory will continue to inspire us as he enters the Kingdom of Heaven.

In his loving memory, we invite you to join us as we gather to celebrate G.R. Mathai's life and bid him farewell on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, VA. The doors will open at 9:45 AM, with the viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the Memorial Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Later, we will proceed to Fairfax Memorial Park for the burial at 1:00 PM.

For those unable to attend in person, there will be live streams available for all the events. After the service, we kindly offer snack packets and water for you to take along and enjoy in the comfort of your car. The live stream links will be sent along with the formal invite.
