Gary W. North of North Augusta National Terrace, Leesburg VA passed away Tuesday October 29th at the Nova Loudoun Hospital Leesburg VA. He was 74 years old. Mr. North retired from the Dept. of the Interior National Geologic Survey with over 30 years of Government Service.

He was born in Schenectady New York on June 24th, 1939. He attended public Schools in Walton New York and graduated from High School there. He graduated from Davis and Elkins College in VA in 1962 and was commissioned in the US air Force and served 4 years active Duty and then worked as a civilian for the Air Force.
He also worked for Raytheon Corporation with the Government Subcontracts before signing on with the U. S. Geological Survey Department.

Mr. North served on the Board of Trustees for his Alma Mater Davis and Elkins including a term as chairman. He was active in the International Mapping Society, the National Council for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a collector of North American Indian Artifacts and an avid photographer.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Danchenko-North from Leesburg VA, two sisters, Shary North Rhinebeck from Charleston S.C. and Dawn Phillipi from Bedford Texas, StepChildren Adrian Danchenko of Palm City Florida, Natalie Danchenko from Redwood City California, two nieces Traci Church from Paradise Texas & Kathy Ingerson from Hatboro Pennsylvania and three nephews, Chris Rhinebeck from Clayton New York, Kyle Rhinebeck from Visalia California and Brian Cooper of Prosper Texas and Grandchildren Brianna Danchenko, Adrian Danchenko, Arielle Danchenko, and Mikaela Danchenko from Palm City Florida.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 2, 2013 between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 where a memorial service will immediately start at 1:00 pm. The Reverend Barney Schwanke will be officiating.
