He is preceded in death by his Father, Albert Treier and Mother, Sophie Treier, brother in law Charles Wright and son, Robert Aubrey.
Born in Fort Oglethorpe, GA he was raised in Hampton, VA he was the son of Albert and Sophie (Ostrowski) Treier, he was a long time resident of Northern Virginia settling for the last nearly 26 years in Chantilly, VA.
In his early years, Gene enjoyed the water and boating this early love would continue through his life. He eventually had his own fleet of boats the first being the original Polish Princess – rubber boat, then each addition would be the next Polish Princess from sailboats, john boats and speed boat. All of these princesses brought him great joy. The only thing that outshined his polish fleet was his family. Gene loved being a husband, father, grandfather; and recently added being a great grandfather aka G-Pa. He was never happier than surrounded by his family and close friends. He met his wife, Fay Treier, who blessed him with 5 step children whom he never saw or treated as anything other than his own children although honestly, we were the ones blessed. Fay and Gene were married in 1977.
Gene loved watching football and baseball. He occasionally enjoyed some golfing, fishing, camping, boating, dancing, war movies (although his family knew his soft spot for "The Sound of Music') and having a good time. He loved helping others. He was a longtime camper at Monroe Bay Campground.
After an Honorable discharge from the Army as a Specialist and moving to Northern Virginia, Gene joined the Prince William Board of Realtors which in later years became Prince William Association of Realtors in Manassas. He not only took pride in his business, but truly relished the friends he made during his time in business. Over the years, he grew from being a printer to being the Finance Director; he worked hard and was successful retiring after 30 years.
A memorial service will be held March 5 at 1 pm at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, VA, additional gathering will be held at nZone, Chantilly, VA. Gene will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in private at a later date.
To remind us all the larger than life full of love and fun spirit – follow the link below – it is a video that was taken at Christopher and Megan Aubrey's wedding - Gene loves the song YMCA – anytime this song was played he was on the dance floor.
