Obituary

A woman adored by all. Geneva Mae Sutphin passed away on May 12, 2010 while a resident in Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was born on August 25, 1917 in West Virginia to parents Arnold Simpson Christian and Mary Essie (Ferrell) Christian. Geneva married James Sutphin. They made their home in Hamilton, Virginia. Geneva and James were blessed with three children; James, David and Margaret. Geneva fell deeply into her role of wife and mother. She lovingly sacrificed her all, putting her family first and foremost. Geneva enjoyed the times she spent with her loved ones; shopping, the long drives to her old homeplace and the many times when they just sat in each other's company. She loved the beauty of flowers. Her loving, generous spirit brought her many friends.

Geneva was a woman of character with strong religious values. Having a true love for God and church led her to become a devoted member of the Hamilton Baptist Church. Her strong faith helped her through the struggles she would have to endure in her lifetime.

Geneva was sadly preceded in death by her husband James, both sons; James and David Sutphin and beloved brother Orville Christian. She is survived by her daughter Margaret J. Dorgan of Winchester, Virginia; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and sisers-in-law Rosie Tincher and Ann Shomaker.
