George Lester "Bud" Greenfield passed away March 16, 2010. He was predeceased by his wife Marianne.
Born in Mechanicsburg, Pa. to George and Mary Greenfield.
He lived and farmed Macaria Farm north of Leesburg for 50 years, where they raised their three children. Barbara Zimmerly, and Sandra Hite of Leesburg and their son George Greenfield of Chesapeake, Virginia.
During his life in Loudoun County, he was very active in civic affairs. Bud was a founding and Charter member of the Lucketts Volunteer Fire Company. Before the Lucketts fire house was built, the fire truck was housed in his barn. He would drive the truck and meet the members on the scene. He was an honoray member of the Lucketts Ruritan Club. During the '60 and '70 he was very active with the 4-H program. He was active with route 15 committee and the Republican National Commitee. Bud was Leesburg Daybreak Rotary club person of the year in 1996.
At the time of his passing his family had grown with 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and many wonderful friends.
He will be missed by many.
Family and friends are invited to Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 on Thursday, March 18, 2010 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. to share the memories of George "Bud" Greenfield. A service will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, March 19, 2010 starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Leesburg, VA.
