Obituary

George E. Haywood, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2012. Mr. Haywood, a lifelong Virginian, was born on November 1, 1921 in Warwick County, Virginia. Mr. Haywood is survived by Phyllis and Rhea Wyrick, Ed and Pam Haywood, Patricia Haywood, Suzy and Mike Haywood-Swiger, Terri and Gary Ehlert. Also survived by twenty grandchildren, Lisa, Cathy, Lori, David, Stephanie, Rich, Nicki, Jason, Tara, Josh, Ryan, Becky, Andrew, Gavin, Katelyn, Adam, Joy, Andy, Johnna, and Gracie...25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter...cousins, Joyce Wiggins and Shirley Brand. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Alma, their son, Clinton Elwood as well as parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter T. Heywood, and three brothers, Morris, Edra, and Homer. Friends and family are welcomed to send memorial gifts to The Children's Home of Virginia Baptists, Inc., 6900 Hickory Road, Petersburg, VA 23803.

A time of visitation has been set for Friday, June 15, 2012 between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Leesburg Community Church, 835 Lee Ave. SW, Leesburg, VA 20175. Burial will follow in the Mount Comfort Cemetery.
