Obituary

George Anthony McMahon, 78, of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Nancy Jean Towey McMahon whom he married on February 6, 1965.

Born on February 5, 1939, in the Bronx, New York, he also lived in Ridgefield, CT; Herndon, VA; and Kilmarnock, VA.

George served in the United States Marine Corp as a Corporal and was honorably discharged on March 11, 1966. He graduated from Manhattan College in New York with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Strayer University. He worked for Bigelow Carpet in Manhattan, NY; Autotax in Mount Kisco, NY; National Wildlife Federation in Vienna, VA; and retired from the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons in 2001.

He was a very active member of the Catholic Church and was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Kilmarnock, VA.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons George A. McMahon (Lisa) of Stafford, VA; Thomas J. McMahon (Jenny) of Round Hill, VA; Brendan T. McMahon (Lisa) of Purcellville, VA; Terrance P. McMahon of Fredericksburg, VA and one daughter Maura E. Rickman (Michael) of Potomac, MD. He has four very special grandchildren Liam T. McMahon, Keegan C. McMahon, Kayla R. McMahon, and Madeleine F. Rickman.

He is also survived by his sisters Christine Flood and Eileen Gimblet (Bob) as well as his brother Brian McMahon (Lorraine); one niece and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Elizabeth McMahon, brother Thomas McMahon, sister Kathleen Doriand, and nephews Ronald Gulick and Edward Miller.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 21371 St. Theresa Lane, Ashburn, VA 20147. Family will receive friends one hour before the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
