Gerald (Jerry) James Von Hoene, 75, peacefully joined our Heavenly Father on 24 July, 2015. He was born on May 11, 1940 to Joseph Von Hoene (deceased) and Evelyn Smith Von Hoene (deceased) in Covington, Kentucky. Born and raised in Covington, Kentucky along with brothers Thomas, James, Timothy and sisters Mary Jo, Patricia, Nancy and Sandra.

While growing up in Northern Kentucky, he enjoyed much of his time fishing along the Ohio River. He enjoyed being in the United States Marine Corps and always called himself a "Hollywood" Marine. Jerry was proud to serve in Camp Pendleton, California; Hawaii; and Quantico, Virginia. Jerry spent 30 years living in Falls Church, Virginia and still continued fishing at Burke Lake in Fairfax County. He was a retired DoD Civilian Commissary Officer and moved to Leesburg, Virginia after his retirement. Jerry has enjoyed many leisure hours watching the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals during his retirement.

Jerry is survived by his wife Janet of Leesburg, Virginia; son Christopher, of Centreville, Virginia; daughter Caren, of Purcellville, Virginia.

In addition to his children he is survived by his grandsons Addison Jennings, Noah Von Hoene, Caiden Bonamassa, and granddaughters Emma Von Hoene, Anna Von Hoene, Corinne Bonamassa, and Sara Von Hoene.

Our family would like to extend a special "Thank you " to the staff at INOVA Intensive Care Unit at Lansdowne and the Adler Center for Caring in Aldie for their dedication and support in the care of our beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd, Leesburg, VA 20176. Where a service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
