Gertrude (Trudy) M. Wood passed away Monday February 3, 2014, surrounded by Family. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on March 17, 1926, the daughter of William Joseph Graven and Lois Pearl Caulkins. She relocated and was united in Marriage in Washington D.C. to John J. Wood in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by her Daughter Elizabeth A. Bidez, two Sons and Spouses, John J. (Pamela) Wood and Robert W. (Susan) Wood and one Nephew Raymond F. (Aouicha) Hilliard. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Paul R. Bidez III, Marc V. Bidez, Jason M. Wood, Leslie A. Wood, Meghan E. Wood, Jennifer M. Stover, Julie A. Safa and Michael R. Wood and seven Great Grandchildren, with one on the way.

She was a wonderful and positive inspiration to all of us. She was employed in Washington D.C. as an analyst for the Federal Government all of her working life, while living in Landover Hills, Maryland and enjoyed a long retirement in Shannondale, West Virginia and then Leesburg, Virginia, where she lived for the past fifteen years. She enjoyed spending time with her Family and also with her many friends at Leisure World where she enjoyed shopping, traveling, playing cards and throwing parties. She leaves behind a large number of friends, who along with all of us, will cherish her memory forever.

The family will receive friends on
Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6-8pm at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd., Leesburg, VA 20176. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church at King and Union Street on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:30am. Interment will immediately follow at St. Peters Cemetery, Harpers Ferry West Virginia starting at 1:00pm.
