A strong woman whose life was devoted to loving her family. This is how those who knew her would describe Gloria Lopez Abreu. Gloria passed away on November 14, 2009. She was born in Naguab, Puerto Rico to proud parents Luis Lopez and Monserte Oritez on November 10, 1936.
While vacationing in New York, Gloria met Angel Abreu. She later married her first true love and was known to be a good wife. They continued living in New York and together raised five children. Gloria was a wonderful stay at home mom who loving looked after and cared for her family. She had many friends who nicknamed her "Taty". After Angel retired, they moved from New York back to Puerto Rico, where they lived until the time of his death. Gloria and Angel were married 48 years. After Angel's death she moved back to New York; later moving to Virginia. Gloria's strong religious beliefs carried her throughout her life.
Although she is gone from their lives, many special memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those surviving; her children: Carmen, Luis, Albert and Alfred Abreu; grandchildren Wanda, Samantha, Yvette, Marisol, Luis, Angel, Jeanette, Sofia, Albert, Rebecca and Matthew; and 8 great grandchildren. Those gone on before are her parents Luis Lopez and Menserte Oritez, husband Angel and brother Angel Abreu, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Gloria on Saturday, November 21, 2009 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd. NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. Memorial services will immediately follow starting at 12:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
