Obituary

Gregory Scott Studebaker, of Leesburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Greg was born on March 25, 1958, in Dayton, Ohio.  The son of Blair and Grace Studebaker, Greg is survived by his loving father Blair Studebaker, brother Don, and sister-in-law Maria, all of Leesburg, Virginia, as well as nephews Nicholas, Timothy and Ryan.  Greg moved from Rockville, Maryland, where he had lived for more than 25 years, to the home of Don and Maria in Leesburg, where he was lovingly cared for over the past few years.

Greg grew up in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh, and attended the Learning Center for the Deaf at Mt. Lebanon High School.  After Graduating in 1976, Greg attended the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology and later transferred to Gallaudet University in Washington, DC where he graduated with an accounting degree in 1984. With that degree he worked as a claims examiner for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC.

Sometimes God brings wonderful people into our lives, Greg, a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend will leave an incalculable void in our hearts as he leaves for a better life. While we are now filled with sorrow, Greg taught us that, despite the circumstances and obstacles life has in store for you, you can always overcome them. While Greg suffered from a rare genetic disorder known as Kearns-Sayre Syndrome from birth which has a life expectancy of 40, he did not allow the disease to stop him. He was a person with immense determination, always wanting to do things for himself regardless of his limitations, full of love for others and a passion for animals until he was ultimately beaten by Alzheimer's.  We know that as the Lord receives him, he is in good hands next to our mom who will be happy to see him again and continue to take care of him in heaven. Rest in peace. We will miss you. 🙏

Visitation and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 14th to celebrate Greg's life, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM followed by the memorial service at 11:00 AM, at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, Virginia.
