Harry Preston Hough of Leesburg, VA, passed away on December 23, 2021, at Heritage Hill Leesburg Nursing Facility. He was 101 years old.
Mr. Hough is predeceased by his wife Anna, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his daughter Peggy Ann Falzone and her husband Michael; granddaughter Joanna Summey and her husband Robert; and two great-grandchildren, Micah (10) and Kaleigh (8).
He was born on September 28, 1920, to W.A. Hough and Ella Grance Riley Hough in Lucketts, VA
After the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, he joined the U.S. Army, serving as Master Sargent Military Police. Harry was part of the Occupational Forces that entered Japan after the surrender. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in the Philippines. Harry was also the recipient of The Philippines Presidential Unit Citation; Army Commendation Medal; European – African – Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; and the Army of Occupation Medal. In the late 1950's and early 1960's, he served in the Virginia National Guard.
In 1946, Harry met and married Anna Hancock in Leesburg. They celebrated their 70 th Wedding Anniversary in 2016. In 1990, he retired after 30 years as the Manager of the Leesburg Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority.
Mr. Hough will always be remembered for his integrity, his kindness, and his endearing smile. Services will be held at The Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, December 30 th at 11:00AM. Interment will be at Leesburg Union Cemetery.
