Helen Louise Ward Casey, of Leesburg, passed quietly the morning of Friday, April 8 at the age of 95. Mrs. Casey is survived by her siblings Richard Ward and his wife Ardis of Nine Miles Falls, Washington and Betty Lou Shiflett and her husband Corky of Paeonian Springs; her children Betty Sheridan-Nelson and husband Bruce Nelson of Florida, and Pat Casey and wife Judy of Berryville; her three grandchildren Melanie Crovo and husband Kelly of Roanoke, Dana Nelson-George and husband Todd George of Austin, Texas, and Shannon Casey of Leesburg; and four great grandchildren Grace, Dylan, Phoebe, and Nolan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Casey, her parents Charles Edward and Bessie Dean Gore Ward, and her siblings: Annie, Guy, Katherine, Carroll, Ruth, Charles, and Jennie.

Helen Ward was born December 3, 1915 in Stephens City and raised on farms in northern Virginia. She married George Casey and raised her family in Paeonian Springs and Leesburg. After George passed in 1985, she lived on her own until she was 90 years old. She loved to garden, needlepoint, knit and listen to big band music.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from
3-5 pm. The funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 11:00 am at Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery.
