On Sunday, July 29 Helen May Schmedegaard died peacefully in Leesburg, Virginia. She was born in Florida and spent her childhood in the Clearwater-Largo area of Florida's West Coast. She moved to Northern Virginia with her parents and eight siblings where she met and married her husband, George Hogan Schmedegaard, who preceded her in death. She worked in the banking business in Maryland for many years and she and George moved back to the West Coast of Florida in 1977. In 1997 she moved once again to Northern Virginia where she spent her happiest hours with her friends at the Senior Center in Leesburg, Virginia. Helen is survived by her daughter, Lynda Hollidge of Round Hill, Virginia, by three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
