Obituary

Holly Beth (May) Groves, 58, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and Gigi passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Inova Loudoun Hospital after a seven-year courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Euclid, Ohio, Holly was the youngest daughter of Willis and Nola May.  She graduated from Mentor Christian Academy and attended Bob Jones University and Pensacola Christian College.

Holly married David J. Groves on  April 29, 1989 in Mentor, Ohio. She worked for Pensacola Christian College for several years before moving to Leesburg, Virginia where she worked for Deidra Bird Kokel, DDS.  Holly and her family are eternally grateful for the generosity, love and support of the staff at Dr. Kokel's office during her battle with cancer.

When Holly was first diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago, Jim Atkins, founder and director of The Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation came to her aid.  Out of gratitude, Holly and her sister, Suzanne started a Christmas tree fundraiser with the generous support of the Brambleton Town Center. In 2017, The Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation named Holly a "Cherry Blossom Champion" for her work that raised $30,000 for women struggling with breast cancer, all while battling her own cancer.

Holly was a Proverbs 31 entrepreneurial woman who started several businesses over her life. She possessed a tireless work ethic with a mind that was always working on her next business venture. We will remember how driven she was when it came to her work.

Above all, Holly is remembered for her love of the Lord, her family and for the many lives she touched.  In recent years her life revolved around loving five grandchildren, working with dear friends at Deidra Kokel, DDS and attending church at Cornerstone Chapel, in Leesburg, VA.

She will be forever missed on this earth but we rejoice that she is now free of pain, and that we will see her again now that she is at peace with the One who took away her pain.  Holly accepted Christ at a young age, but recently found great comfort in these words from scripture: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

Holly is survived by her loving husband, David Groves of Leesburg, VA, her parents, Willis and Nola May of Montgomery, Texas, Her two sisters, her brother and their spouses:  Mark and Suzanne Eaton of Pensacola, FL; Peter and Sandra Baker of Lucketts, Virginia; Joel and Keri May of Montgomery Texas; her five children and their spouses; Aaron and Mikayla Hamilton of Gettysburg, PA, Collin and Lindsay Groves, Brooke Groves, Renee and Madelyn Kirby and Morgan Groves all from Leesburg, Virginia; and her five grandchildren; Masyn, Eisley, Jaxon, Raelynn and Hadleigh.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 4:00 to 5:00 P.M., Sunday June 23, 2019 at Cornerstone Chapel, 650 Battlefield Parkway SE, Leesburg, VA. A Memorial Service for Holly will follow at 5:00 P.M.  Pastor Mike Emerson will officiate. Private interment will be in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Virginia.
