Irene Ericksen went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 22, 2014. Born on November 15, 1924 in Arendal, Norway, she is survived by three siblings: Tomas and Nils Tora Nilsen and Tora Synnoeve Ekadal. Her brother, Frank Nilsen, predeceased her.

She emigrated with her husband, Einar Ericksen to America in the fall of 1948. He preceded her in death. All three children survive her: Nils Eric Ericksen of Blackwood, NJ, George Ericksen of Sarasota, FL and Susan Ericksen of Hagerstown, MD. To the end, she named her grandchildren over and over again, so that she wouldn't forget. They are: Michael, Timothy and David Ericksen, Kristen Martin, Kelly Saucier, Keren Macklin, Heidi Houston, Charity Dawsey, Melissa Haj, Peter Ericksen, Scott Holden and Virginia Walker. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren (1 double-great included), whom she loved dearly.

She loved us well, and we will miss her.

There will be a viewing service held at Colonial Funeral Home on Sunday, October 26th from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 27th at 11:00 am, at The Worship Center Assembly of God Church, 19227 Gleedsville Rd, Leesburg, VA 20175. Interment is following the funeral service and will be held at Union Cemetery. Attendees can return to the church for fellowship after the burial.
