Irene V. Tuggle, 86, of Ashburn, VA, died at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.
Born in Glastonbury, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Sophie Gasek, and grew up in Worcester, MA. She was a longtime resident of Vienna, VA and Harpers Ferry, WV before moving to Sarasota, FL. She moved back to Virginia in 2010 to be close to her children and grandchildren.
Irene was a commercial artist and worked at the Washington Post and the Northern Virginia Magazine. She was an award-winning artist and basketmaker, and active in multiple craft and art societies, to include the Mid-Atlantic Fiber Association.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Holcombe T. Tuggle, and is survived by her four children; Nora, Bonnie, Lauren and Tim; two grand children Joseph and Emily; son-in-law Frank; daughter-in-law Mary, and her brothers and sisters Michael, Christine, Charlotte, and Charles.
