James Girvin of Leesburg, Virginia died at the scene of a single car crash in the early morning hours of September 22, 2012 at the age of twenty-five. Surviving the accident is his beautiful wife, Carmen. Married just last November the newlyweds have been high school sweethearts since meeting at Broad Run in Ashburn, Virginia nearly a decade ago. James was a loving, thoughtful, creative soul who embraced life, family and friends. He had a powerful laugh and a gift for making people smile.
James took real pride in his career at Lowes, finding joy in his work, his customers and their projects. He developed solid friendships with his co-workers and mentors over the years at the Sterling store. The new Lowes motto, "Never Stop Improving", is very descriptive of how James has always chosen to live personally and professionally. He had a passion for learning new things and meeting new people. James genuinely celebrated and promoted the success of those around him. He had a generous spirit and was quick to compliment, encourage, and lend a hand, especially with home improvements, cars and pets. James and Carmen enjoyed traveling, the company of family and friends, eating out, learning to cook new recipes for each other and creating artwork. James expressed his creativity on the canvases he painted, the shirts he designed, the home he helped decorate, the gardens he planted and the tattoos he designed for himself to celebrate his faith and his family.
Always ready to go to a Yankee game with his Dad, share stories with his Mom, watch comedies with his sister Christina, James was especially close to his brother Danny. The brothers were each other's best friends, and loved biking, skating, snowboarding, music, art, comedy and hanging out with mutual friends growing up in California and Virginia. James loved his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family with a deep sense of pride and enduring affection. He will be missed by more people than can be counted.
A memorial service is being planned to celebrate James and his life. Until the details are available, please hug those you love and make a stranger smile.
