James Robert Handy, age 79, of Fairfax, Virginia passed away on December 27, 2023, after a long and valiant battle against lung disease.

James Robert was born to James Marion Handy and Eula May Lancaster on May 17, 1944, in Cave City, Kentucky. He studied business at the University of Florida, after which he flourished as an entrepreneur before beginning a long and successful career with BMW.

James Robert, better known as Jim to his friends and family, wore many hats—but the most notable were as a son, husband, and father. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Jim knew he had an incredible ability to connect with people, and that he was fiercely loyal. Jim always wanted to help people, especially his family. Jim really enjoyed and appreciated the simple things in life—a good cup of coffee, delicious meal, and an intelligent conversation. His favorite places to travel were Bermuda and Wintergreen Resort, a fondness that he passed down to his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Benjamin) and Lauren (Robert), and four grandchildren Jack, Alexandra, Ryan, and Tyler.

Jim was loved dearly and will be missed beyond measure.
