James Durell Hill, 86, of Ashburn, VA died peacefully at his home on December 31, 2015 where he was surrounded by his wife Natalie and family members. Friends and family are invited for visitation on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 for viewing and a Masonic service at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 7th at 12:00 noon at the Lovettsville New Jerusalem Lutheran Church located at 12942 Lutheran Church Road, Lovettsville, VA.

Jim Hill was born in Montezuma, Georgia on December 22, 1929. In 1968, he retired as a Sergeant Major from the U.S. Army with 22 years of service in the U.S, European/ NATO, and Pacific commands. After retirement from the military, he worked in real estate for 42 years. In 2003, he established C&J Real Estate where he practiced property management and in 2010 became the President and CEO of Network Designs, Inc. (NDi) a small IT services company. He retired from NDi in 2015 as President Emeritus.

In 2005, Jim was predeceased by his wife of 58 years; Christine Hill. He is currently survived by his wife Natalie Hill, his three daughters: Octavia Frazier, Sylvia McGreevy, and Patricia Mehula, and Natalie's daughter, Kim Michels. In addition to his immediate family he is survived by his sons-in law, Dwight Frazier, Kevin McGreevy, and Guy Mehula, his two grandchildren, Amanda Frazier and Matthew Frazier, and a Great Grandson, Oliver Schaper. He was one of seven children of Arthur and Corine Hill, and he is survived by four sisters who live in Georgia, Virginia Grubbs, Glenda Baggett, Jackie Bell, and Annette Erenheim and many nephews and nieces.

He was an active member in the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #114 in Leesburg, VA and a Mason since the mid 1950's. In Paris, he was a Grand Master where he achieved the 32nd degree of the Masonic Scottish Right. Additionally, he was a Shriner and member of the ACCA Temple in Richmond, VA and the Kena Shriners in Fairfax, VA.

Jim Hill will be remembered for his active support of the Lovettsville Oktoberfest where he helped to bring the German traditions of food, beer, and music to the community and for his German Club activities throughout the area. Jim touched the lives of so many people throughout his lifetime and he will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues.
