James Ray Sheffield (Jim), 83, Leesburg, Virginia, passed away January 27, 2024. He was born Jan. 21, 1941, in Kansas City, MO. to Ola Mae (Gragg) Sheffield (d) and parented by his father James A. Sheffield (d) and stepmother Dorothy Sheffield(d).

Jim attended Southeast High School`59 in K.C.MO. where he was a 3-sport varsity athletic letterman. Jim spent his freshman year of college at Southeast Missouri State University where he played baseball.

On July 21, 1961, Jim married the love of his life, Anna Barbara Wilson (Sheffield). They were married for 62+ years and Jim is survived by Anne, daughter Michelle "Mimi" (husband Teddy, grandson Blake), son Michael (wife Susan, granddaughter Micaela and grandson Spenser), and son Matthew (wife Eden, grandson Benjamin James and granddaughter Alexandra "Allie"). Jim's siblings are sisters Joann (d), Judy and brother Jeff.

Professionally, Jim worked as a businessman in accounting and sales for 35 years before his retirement at the age of 55 due to health complications. Jim will be remembered for many things including his kindness, sense of humor and love for family, baseball, basketball, football, fishing, gardening, wood working, cards, chess, Yahtzee, Bingo, computer golf and Fantasy Football. His most recent hobby was artwork, painting on canvas. A Celebration of Life will be held between 2:00-3:00 pm, with a visitation between 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Saturday, Mar. 2, at Colonial Funeral Home Leesburg, VA (703-777-1414) www.colonialfuneralhome.com.

Jim will be interned at Union Cemetery Leesburg, VA.
