Jane Ellen Buckley (nee Harper), 57, died in her home in Leesburg Virginia on 2 June 2022 after a protracted battle with breast cancer. Her funeral service will be held at 1PM on Saturday 11 June at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg VA and will be followed by a gathering at her home for friends and family.
Mrs. Buckley was born on 2 February 1965 in North Little Rock Arkansas to Henry Alvin "Hank" Harper and Tom Nell Harper (nee Doyal). The youngest of eight children, she graduated from Oak Grove High School in North Little Rock in 1983 and went on to quickly earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Central Arkansas in May 1986. She married her college beau and high school prom date Steven Buckley on 14 May 1988 with whom she proceeded to raise 3 wonderful children.
A Marine's Wife, Mrs. Buckley moved her family frequently, living in many locations including Yuma Arizona, Quantico VA, Memphis TN, Colorado Springs CO, Newport RI, and Iwakuni Japan before settling in Leesburg. During her professional career she worked in many Information Technology roles including computer programmer, software test manager, and Agile Scrum Master. She successfully managed a very productive and fulfilling life, juggling the challenges of a being a wonderful Wife, Mom, sister, soccer coach, gardener, quilter, and IT professional. From young Marines in need of advice, to the soccer players she coached, and to fellow information technology workers, Jane loved helping and mentoring others.
One very tough lady, when diagnosed with the most aggressive form of breast cancer, for nearly four years she endured every possible therapy to fight her disease and always tried to have a positive impact on fellow Walter Reed Bethesda Patients, Nurses, Doctors, friends, and family.
She is preceded in death by brothers Joe Harper, William Henry "Dub" Harper and Sister Jackie Burnett. She is survived by Brother Benny Rex Harper, Sisters Margie Geniece Franks, Kathlynne Pflughoeft, and Sue Ann Bledsoe. She is also survived by her husband of 34 years and 3 children Zachary, Benjamin, and Jessica.
