Janet Lucille Simonds passed in her sleep on the morning of Wednesday, October 18, 2017. She was 82. Janet was born December 6, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan and was a resident of Sterling, Virginia for the last 20 years. Over the course of her life she also resided in Delaware, Maryland and Texas. She worked in customer service for Sears, Dennys and Toy"R"us.

Janet was married to Alger William Simonds April 7th, 1953. She was widowed in October of 1973. Janet never stopped loving Alger and spoke of him often.

She came from a large family, having eight siblings, four daughters, and many grand and great grandkids. Her interests included gardening, sewing, and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy taking care of her two beloved dogs Twitch and Portia.

A memorial service will be held on  October 29th in Chesapeake City Maryland. As her final wish, Janet's ashes will rest next to her beloved Alger.

I have so many things to see and do

I gave you my love and you can only guess

How much you gave to me in happiness

I thank you for the love you each have shown
