Janice Chaitkin, a beautiful soul who filled the world around her with love, passed away on September 18 after a hard battle with leukemia.

She was born November 12, 1942 in Indianapolis; from age eight she grew up in the Phoenix area, and she graduated from the University of Arizona in 1964.

In all she did - in her independent travels in Europe as a young woman, as a gorgeous alto singer and drama performer, as an elementary school teacher in Harlem, as a residential counselor in a group home for the mentally ill, or teaching her classical children's chorus -- she put the joy and compassion of the simple Christian faith of her childhood to work.

Janice and her husband of 60 years, Anton Chaitkin, were among the handful of founders of the political/philosophical movement associated with Lyndon LaRouche, in 1966.

She dedicated her life to justice and mercy, and to the finest ideas and arts of mankind. She relentlessly fought to be able to keep working to improve the future, despite being crippled by a stroke in 2017.

She leaves behind her husband, her son Peter, her grandchildren Jasmine and Jacob, her brother Bill, her sister Kip, and other family members and friends who love her dearly.

A service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11 AM at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg.
