Jean Adeline Spitler passed away on November 21 in Leesburg, VA. Jean was born in Worcester, MA on October 5, 1933, the oldest of 3 children of Domenic Rana and Alba Rana. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Dr. N. Shreve Spitler for 33 years. She is survived by her children, Karen Hecht, Hal Hecht (Nubia) , Sabrina Hecht, Mary Kelly (Jack), Michael Spitler (Faith), and Mark Spitler. She was loved by her many grandchildren, Sterling, Gregory (Katie), Elizabeth (DJ), Westin, Harlan, Marina, Emma, Sean (Erin), Thomas, Colleen, Erika, Monika (Elijah), Jacob and great-grandchildren Elly, Christopher, Claire, Brigid and Genevieve.
Jean was an accomplished businesswoman and entrepreneur throughout her life. During the 60s, 70s, & 80s she owned and operated Perma-Lite Products a company that employed the handicapped in the Washington, DC area. Before the advent of home delivery service, she filled up local area homes with cleaning supplies and home products through cold calls and sharp sales skills. In the 90's, she owned and managed the senior assisted living facility - Bridgeway - in Davidsonville, MD. For the past 10 years to present, Jean and her husband Shreve owned and managed New Vistas, which comprised several residential rental properties in Northern Virginia. She received her AA degree from Anne Arundel Community College in 1996. Over the years, Jean received many accolades for her business enterprises which included employing the handicapped and the care of the elderly.
Jean enjoyed a healthy lifestyle, dancing, playing cards with her friends and accompanying her husband, Shreve, to his many music venues where he played his fiddle.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday December 2 nd at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg, VA followed by burial at St. John the Apostle Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Anne Arundel Community College.
