Jeanne Rilley Winnick, age 89, passed away at home on February 1st, 2016. She was born on April 28th, 1926 in St Paul, Minnesota. She is survived by her son, Larry Winnick, and his wife, Deidre, of Lansdowne, Virginia, and her four grandsons, Matthew, Michael, Alexander & Zachary.
Jeanne was married to Leonard Robert Winnick for 51 years until his passing in 2005.
At a young age Jeanne moved to Washington, DC from Minnesota, to start a career at the Department of the Navy. She went on to work on Capitol Hill for several congressmen and then moved on to The National Institutes of Health, where she retired after 16 years of service. Overall Jeanne's federal service was 37 years. She earned many merit awards and had special memories of meeting some of the most accomplished dignitaries in the world.
Her passions were reading, writing, frequenting many restaurants with Leonard, spending time with friends, watching her beloved Washington Redskins, and of course her grandsons.
Jeanne was a kind, compassionate, elegant woman who was loved by all that ever met her. She was blessed to spend the last 7 months of her life living with her son, his wife and two young grandsons, who gave her many hugs and brought her great joy.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, February 6, 2016 between 9:00 am and 10:00 am at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, VA 20176, where funeral services will immediately follow starting at 10:00 am. Graveside services will follow the service starting at 1:00 pm in Norbeck Gardens Cemetery, Olney, Maryland.
