MRS. JERRI COMBS MALONE

Mrs. Jerri Combs Malone, lovingly known to her family and friends as Jerri Lynn, passed away on August 28, 2018 at her home in Ashburn, Virginia.  A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Friday, September 21 st , 2018 at 11:00 A.M. and officiated by Fr. Michael Deering.  A "Celebration of Life" reception will follow the Mass in the Parish Hall at noon.

Jerri Lynn was born on February 13, 1960, in Anniston, Alabama and was preceded in death by her father, the Reverend Jerry Haynes, and her grandparents, Lena and Fred Watts.

Jerri Lynn graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Alabama in 1981 and received her master's degree from Jacksonville State University in 1991.  Jerri Lynn was also a member of MENSA and numerous academic honor societies.

Jerri Lynn was a brilliant educator and counselor, and served her Nation as an Army wife, using her exceptional skills to aid Soldiers and their families.  Her Catholic faith was her strength as she fought a valiant battle against cancer.  She was truly loved and admired by all who knew and worked with her.

Jerri Lynn is survived by her husband, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Stephen C. Malone; son, Christopher S. Malone; parents, Linda and Glenn Combs; sister, Tina Thomas (Darren); brother, E.G. Combs; niece, Olivia Thomas; and nephews, Holden and Grayson Thomas.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tidwell; Mr. and Mrs. Luke Remmert; Ms. Lauren Tidwell; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hilburn; Ms. Lynn Allen; and the outstanding staff at the Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, Virginia.
