Obituary

Jerry Atkison, beloved son, husband, and father was united in glory with our Lord Jesus on January 30th, 2018.  His earthly journey began with humble beginnings in Sandusky, Ohio as he was born on February 3rd, 1957 to Albert and Helen Atkison who preceded him in death.  During his time at Sandusky High School, he met his high school sweetheart Diane Teply.

Diane and Jerry were married June 30th, 1979 and were blessed with two children, Lauren and Brandon.  They shared 38 years of wonderful and happy marriage together anchored by their shared relationship with Jesus Christ.  Jerry was an amazing Pop Pop to his two beloved granddaughters Hannah and Allison.  His most treasured time with them was in Disney World where he treated them like princesses.

He attended General Motors Institute where he graduated with his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.  After graduation, he worked for General Motors in Sandusky, OH.  His love for his country lead Jerry to accept a position for General Dynamics in San Diego, CA in the National Defense and Security industry in 1984.  Jerry moved to Northern Virginia in 1995 where he was a strategic business leader at BAE Systems.  He passionately led many strategic proposals that provided revolutionary capabilities to the military and the Intelligence Community for over 30 years.  After his retirement from BAE Systems, he continued serving his country by starting his own consulting business JLA Strategic Consulting Services.

He will be remembered for his deep love of family, a most happy, gentle and generous spirit, and above all a foundation of faith in our Lord Jesus.  He was a loyal Ohio State Buckeye fan, an avid reader, enjoyed traveling the world with Diane, and served his church community by leading bible studies in his Purcellville home and teaching Sunday school.  He is survived by his wife Diane, daughter Lauren and her husband Alex, son Brandon and his wife Jenny, and his sister Pat Bowie and brother Rod Atkison.
