Jerry Lewis Jenkins Sr. of Leesburg, VA passed away in his home surrounded by family on Saturday, June 6th, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his father, Grady Jenkins.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 37 years, Denise Jenkins, his mother, Mabel Randal (Theodore), his children Jerry Jenkins Jr. (Vathsana), Shanda Jenkins, and La-Val Harris II (Shaddis).  He is also survived by his siblings Grady Jenkins (Sheryl), Diane Cypress (Melvin), and baby brother Joseph Jenkins (Patricia).  He will be missed by his seven grandchildren: Malik, Jerael, Trammel, Jaiden, Xavier, Amia and Alecia. Additionally, there are nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing.

Jerry was born in Newport News, VA on March 3, 1954 in Whittaker Memorial Hospital.  He spent most of his childhood in Newport News, but went on to see more of the world in his adult years.  He is a veteran of the United States Air Force.  Afterwards, he spent 31 years with Harris/Peraton Corp. as an engineer.

Jerry will be remembered as a warm and kind person.  His intellect and inquisitive nature were apparent to all who knew him. He always had a quick smile and was willing to help others whenever he could.  He was thoughtful and generous.

Jerry was a self taught wood craftsman creating cabinetry, furniture, unique pens and in addition to doing fine carpentry work. His projects will be cherished by family and friends. He was an audiophile who loved music. He was true admirer of photography and had plans to spend time honing his skills and studying science and nature. He was fond of watching movies and reading mysteries and Syfy. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings because, "I love rooting for the underdog."

A funeral service will be held at at Cooke Brother's Funeral home in Newport News, VA.

On Tuesday June 16th, 2020 at  1:00 pm, followed by the Interment at Hampton Memorial Gardens in Hampton, VA. There will be a webcast of the service. The link will be posted at: https://www.cookebros.com/
