Joan Dixon Mooney, our wonderfully kind and loving mother and friend, died Saturday February 7, 2009 at her home in Haymarket, VA. She was a long time resident of both Chicago, IL and Devon, PA until her move here two years ago.
Born in Chicago on November 13, 1918 she was the youngest of seven children of Katharine and Homer Dixon.
She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, John Robert Mooney and survived by her children: Timothy and Dorothy of Vienna, VA; Margaret of Chicago, IL; Daniel and Carla of Cochranville, PA; Jane of Haymarket, VA; and Katharine of East Syracuse, NY; her grandchildren. Kendra, John and Katharine; her sister Mrs. A Parker Bryant of Palm Beach, FL; dear friends Pat Lear, Penny Desper, Judy Kilpatrick and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in her honor to be held at the Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast, 23130 Briar Patch Lane, Middleburg, VA 20117 on Thursday the 12th of February 2009, at 4:00 PM, with a reception immediately following. The family plans an additional memorial service in Chicago in May 2009.
