Joan Helen Sanchez, 78, of Haymarket, VA, retired Graphic Designer, died Friday, March 24, 2023, at Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, VA.

Joan was born August 18, 1944, in Washington D.C. to parents James and Helen Livings. Her family moved to Fairfax, VA, in the early 50's where she graduated from Fairfax High School in 1962 and later from Corcoran School of Art & Design in Washington, D.C. in 1964. Joan worked for Scope Electronics in Reston, VA, as a graphic designer. She then married David Sanchez and moved to Sterling, VA and later to Haymarket, VA. One of her favorite hobbies was Genealogy, for which she volunteered at Ashburn Family History Center in Loudoun County. She also enjoyed landscaping her home on Bull Run Mountain.

Joan is survived by her husband David of 52 years, sister Donna, her sons Christopher and Jeremy, daughter in-law Lisa, granddaughters Madelyn, Kayla, and Krista, nieces Adrienne and Danielle, and numerous cousins.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd., NE., Leesburg, VA  20176 where a memorial service will begin at 12:00 pm.
