Joel William “Bill” Roberson of Leesburg, Virginia, born September 21, 1938, peacefully departed this life on July 24, 2026.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Gray Roberson and Myra Virginia Roberson; his beloved wife, Carol Jean Roberson; and his stepdaughter, Susan Diane Wenger.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his brother, David Gray Roberson; stepdaughter Sandy Eppley (Danny); granddaughters Jessica Wenger and Megan Hussey (Ryan); grandson Ryan Elias McCann (Pam); nephew David Gray Roberson Jr.; niece Amy Lefkowitz; son-in-law Richard Wenger; brother-in-law Rev. Jack Rupert; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Scooter, and dear friends Karen and Palmer Robeson, Diane Smith, and Christine Flack Blazier, along with many other friends and former coworkers whose lives he touched.

Bill was a loving husband, brother, stepfather, grandfather, and friend. His faith in the Lord was an important part of his life, and he was proud of his 60-year membership in the Masonic Fraternity of the Manasseh Lodge No. 182. Bill was also a member of the Kiwanis, as well as a member of the Army National Guard.

Bill had a curious mind and an adventurous spirit. He was always eager to learn something new and never afraid to try something different. He enjoyed starting new business ventures, discussing politics, watching football, and vacationing at his timeshare. As a professional tour bus driver for Loudoun County, Bill especially enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life and making new friends along his journeys.

Perhaps what Bill treasured most was the simple pleasure of spending time with the people he cared about. His Wednesday night dinners with Karen and Palmer were a special tradition he looked forward to each week. Those evenings of friendship, conversation, and laughter were among the many things that made life meaningful to him.

Bill had a way of making connections with people and leaving an impression wherever he went. He will be remembered for his strong faith, his independent spirit, his willingness to try new things, his love of conversation, and, most of all, the friendships and memories he created throughout his life.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, the love he shared, the stories he told, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

May he rest in peace and in the loving presence of the Lord.
